Below are a list of frequently asked questions and their answers.
Where Do I Park? IMPORTANT!!!
If you have a burning
question not answered here
e-mail the Lawn Olympics Committee
Lawn Olympics is an all-day tournament of commonly played lawn games. It is an opportunity to laugh with some old friends and to meet some new friends...and to kick everyone's ass!
WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE FOR LAWN OLYMPICS?Soon, you will begin to receive information about the day via email. Pay attention to things that say “Important information” and “Here’s something you should know”. The gods are always changing things up (like where the event will be held), so be on your toes and read whatever you get. Other than that, train like hell! The field is wide and the talent is deep!
WHERE DO I PARK? IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE, READ THIS!
On-site parking at Broadturn is limited! Participants are strongly encouraged to carpool. Off-site parking will be available street-side on Martin Avenue, a stone’s throw from LO and the dropping off of people, kids, and stuff prior to parking the vehicle will be allowed. People parked on Martin Ave and leaving the party after dark are reminded to watch Broadturn Road traffic and are kindly asked to be considerate of the neighborhood.top
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO LAWN OLYMPICS?The list hasn’t changed much over the years. Food and beverages are still provided and donations are still welcomed with open arms. But if you have a favorite snack or salad that you’d like to bring to share, then please feel free! It will not go to waste. Lawn chairs are also helpful. But no matter what you bring, make sure it is marked with your name in case it is left behind at the end of the day.
WHAT IF IT IS RAINING ON THE DAY OF LAWN OLYMPICS?All returning athletes know the answer to this; we’ve lived through it at least twice! There will be no rain date. All events will go on as scheduled, so dress appropriately and plan accordingly. There will be warm shelter for downtime between events, but we're not made of sugar, People! Suck it up and have fun!!
HOW DO I BECOME A CLAN CAPTAIN?
The gods look for individuals who are the embodiment of the Spirit of Lawn Olympics! They must have integrity, show leadership and be competitive, but above all else, they must understand that Fun is the name of the game. Oh yeah, and it helps if you have a few LO’s under your belt. No “newbies” will be entertained. So if you think you have what it takes to lead a clan to victory, lobby like hell!
WHAT IS L.O.A.D.ed?
L.O.A.D.ed stands for Lawn Olympics After Dark. It begins shortly after LO’s closing ceremonies and last until the last person standing douses the bon fire. It is an opportunity for the day’s adult participants to revel in their glory or to cry in their beer, as well as a chance for the gods to mingle with the Olympiads and let off a little steam. Basically, it’s an inebriated hootenanny to celebration of a day well spent!
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I'VE HAD TOO MUCH TO DRINK AT LAWN OLYMPICS/L.O.A.D.ed OR IF I’M TRAVELING FROM AWAY?
If you’ve had too much to drink, pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Water and evening pizza will be provided for those still able to stand. Warning- To those who pass out, The Lawn Olympics Organization cannot be held responsible for acts of childishness and immaturity involving the incapacitated individual.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED AT LAWN OLYMPICS?The day can be crazy and busy with a variety of people and children milling about, so we ask that dogs stay home until after the closing ceremonies. All bets are off for L.O.A.D.ed, however, but please keep an eye on them! The “L.O.A.D.ed Dog Pack” has been known to participate in their own shenanigans.
ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED AT LAWN OLYMPICS?Absolutely!! LO has turned into quite the family day with fun activities for all ages and the gods have spotted a number of future Olympians in the mix! However, L.O.A.D.ed is an adult-only event filled with crazy activity where drinking may have been involved, so please make arrangements for the kids to go home after closing ceremonies.
The gods are asked this question all the time and over the years, we’ve found that there is no easy answer. Typically we say to assess the fun you’ve had, the food you’ve eaten and the beer you’ve consumed and judge for yourself, but often times, people are still left with questioning faces. If this is you and you feel more comfortable with a number, figure on $20 per adult; $10 per child…or a family discount of a flat $50. Again, this is only a guideline and the gods are appreciative of whatever you give!! Every penny helps!!
